It’s a circle —  a travelling art installation by Jan Jacobs.

“It’s a circle” is a travelling Art installation from Jan Jacobs. The journey started in October 2012 on the beach at Wijk aan Zee. The installation was originally made for a film that was part of the theatre work “Schwimm oder Denk”, which he co-created together with dance makers Pim Veulings, Samon Presland, Hanna van der Meer, Anna Jacobs and visual artist Arja Spronken.

Later in November the installation was built up and broken down during the theatre performances to share with the audience the process of building on stage, to see the result, and to leave the image resonating in the memory of the audience. Continuing the journey through the medium of dance, inviting the dancer to make contact with the space around and within the statue. “Flashbacks” were used during the performance to recall its path from the sea to the theatre : It’s a circle. Jan Jacobs takes this installation to new dimensions as he makes connections with new environments and new collaborators. The work was also displayed during the exhibition “EEN NIEUWE LENTE” from AZIZ.
